When I first began my Master’s in Ancient Indian History, Culture & Archaeology (AIHCA) at Jiwaji University, I realised something important while there is a wealth of knowledge in our heritage, accessing it digitally is often difficult. Most resources were scattered, outdated, or locked away in books and PDFs.
As a technologist and a student of history, I saw an opportunity to merge the two worlds. That’s how the idea for the AIHCA+ App was born.
Why I Built AIHCA+
The goal was simple: make history accessible, interactive, and engaging for students, researchers, and enthusiasts. Instead of flipping through heavy notes or browsing unreliable sources, users should have a structured, interactive, and mobile-first way of exploring our past.
Key Features
Structured Notes – Clean, categorised summaries of Ancient Indian History, Culture & Archaeology.
Interactive Maps – Visualise archaeological sites, dynasties, and historical regions dynamically.
Quizzes & Flashcards – Reinforce learning in an engaging way.
Iconography Modules – Understand religious and cultural symbols visually.
Dynamic APIs – Google Sheets + Google Apps Script keeps content flexible and easily updatable.
The Tech Behind It
The app was built with:
React Native (Expo) for cross-platform mobile development.
Firebase for data management and backend services.
Google Apps Script + JSON APIs for dynamic, real-time content delivery.
This stack ensures the app is lightweight, scalable, and always up-to-date.
What’s Next
The app currently focuses on Ancient Indian History, but I plan to expand into Medieval, Modern, and World History. Each update will add new modules, richer maps, and more interactive experiences.
Final Thoughts
AIHCA is more than an app—it’s my attempt to bring heritage closer to technology. If even one student or researcher finds learning history more engaging because of this project, I’ll consider it a success.
